SUMMARY:Embodied Queer Spirit Workshop with Mathew Bergan
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 20 August 2022 // 12pm – 3pm // $75\nJoin Mathew Bergan ( https://unionstreetyoga.com.au/about/teachers/mathew-bergan/ ) for a yoga workshop developed for Sydney’s Inner West queer community.\nDuring this workshop Mathew will open to the group discussions around body positivity and how as queer people we relate to the body in both private and social environments.\nWe will also explore through a yogic lens, ways to strengthen our relationship to the body while exploring notions of queer spirituality and qtopianism – from resilience to brilliance.\nThe special workshop will also include a delicious yin yoga class hugged by a queer sound healing immersion, followed by tea and cake in the Buddha Garden.\nThis workshop is trauma informed and inclusive of all genders, body types, ethnicities and sexualities. It will be a safe and sacred queer space.\nPlease note if you are currently unemployed or experiencing financial hardship, please contact us ( https://unionstreetyoga.com.au/contact/ ) to discuss payment options. We’d love you to attend if you feel the call.\nAbout Mathew\nMathew Bergan is a yoga teacher, somatic councillor, writer, filmmaker, dancer and queer elder. He knew he was chosen to run with the queer mantle when costume designer/punk provocateur Leigh Bowery spat on him in the back of a Transit van in London in 1984, (which to Mathew was of the highest honour). To this day Mathew has been exploring notions of queer identity through mediums such as cinema, performance, writing, retreat facilitation and queer sound healing immersions.\n
