Join Verity Gill for the first of a two-part arm balancing series.
Workshop 1 – Build the Foundations
This workshop is designed to help you build strong foundations for a healthy, sustainable and fun arm balance practice. Arm balances offer a great opportunity to build confidence, focus and resilience in your practice. These postures invite us to find steadiness in challenge – to meet effort with ease, strength with humility, and curiosity with courage. Through mindful technique and playful exploration, you’ll learn to cultivate balance in both body and mind.
In Workshop 1, we will start with a grounding warm-up to support wrist health, shoulder stability and core strength, then move through a step-by-step exploration of key arm balances. You will learn to build a solid Crow Pose (Bakasana) as a base, then progress safely into variations like Side Crow, Baby Crow, and Eka Pada Koundinyasana I. We will explore how to use drishti (steady gaze) in combination with key alignment principles and mechanics to take flight.
Expect detailed technique breakdowns, thoughtful use of props and modifications, and plenty of time to play, experiment and ask questions. We will finish with helpful stretches, a short meditation to integrate your practice, and a well-earned relaxation. Whether you’re new to arm balances or refining your existing skills, this two-part series will leave you feeling stronger, more confident and inspired to keep exploring. (Note you can enrol in Workshop 1 only if you just wish to dip a toe in the water first ☺️)
Note students on the fortnightly membership receive 10% off.
